Trying To Remember What a Bird Sounds Like is an immersive sound installation and performance in development — a speculative meditation on the human relationship to birdsong, and the possibility of a world without it. The work takes its imaginative departure from a real predicament: currently there are approximately 11,000 living species of birds, with over 1,480 at risk of extinction and 223 critically endangered. From this reality, the artists ask what it would mean to carry the memory of birdsong into a future where the birds themselves are gone.
