This week at MIUC we have four generous helpings of the classic electroacoustic spontaneities the Club has been serving up for nigh on 18 years now, featuring extemporisers from variegated corners of the sonoverse, and literally the entire history of Australian free improv. National treasure and constant innovator Jon Rose returns to Bar Open for the first time in 18 months to spread the Good Word, on this occasion in the form of his new tome “Rosenberg 3.0: Not Violin Music” – with Special Guest Anarchist Salesperson Sean Baxter to contextualise and demonstrate the powers of prose – and Good Sounds, on this occasion in the form of a duet with the auspiciously stellar Sydney/Berlin-based guitarist Julia Reidy. After no less than 100 duo performances throughout November mind-bogglingly diverse windwielder Adam Simmons has truly earned some leisure time, opting to relax with a collaborative odyssey back into the aleatoric realm with Sydneysider Alon Ilsar and his technologically augmented percussives. Aviva Endean has had a fruitfully busy 2015 – somehow finding time to further extend her virtuosity and find new new resonant methods for her instrument(s) of choice whilst installing a domicile with meticulously crafted sound works, generally championing free music, being awarded the Freeman Classical Fellowship and the like. And multifaceted multi-instrumentalist Adrian Sherriff filters his vast cross-cultural audial experience into a frequential fusion with vocalist Shani Mohini-Holmes, who is currently utilising Diego Chamy’s NO CV policy.
