This Tuesday at MIUC the third of our guest curators for the month, Carla Ori, plots a multitude of genre-thwarting musical potentialities to stimulate both her banger-laden brain and any attendant auditors as we venture again through abstruse realms of the sonoverse. Acoustic aleatoricists Prophets are so adamantly wary of limiting their liberated sonics as to label themselves Stylefree, weaving woodwind and percussives into polyphonic, polyrhythmic, polytonal, polycultural, polythematic improvisatory peregrinations. Top 40’s Cover Band repurpose skills extractable from note-for-note dissections of 80s pop and 90s house at suburban birthday parties and corporate luncheons to simultaneously embrace and spontaneously shatter modern populism through the apodictic art of ad-libbing. And an all new amalgamation of audial explorers featuring the vocal resonances of Supina Bytol and audiovisual abstractions adjured from mangled 12.7mm magnetic tape wielded by Sooji Kim, Steph Brett & Aviva Endean, together evoking an exquisite extemporaneous corpus.
