For the first performance as part of its 2014 Season, the Phonetic Orchestra will present work created under the artistic direction of Peter Knight. The Orchestra will also present a self-composed work at each of the two performances in the Northcote Uniting Church Hall. The Phonetic Orchestra and Ensemble was created in 2012 as a vehicle to explore the evolving relationship between notation and sound. Its members work across fields such as contemporary classical music and music of an improvisatory and/or experimental nature. Major concerns for the group are presenting music centered on close listening, detailed execution and innovative approaches to live performance.
