Playgrounds is a trio of three playful people: Callum Mintzis (trombone), Helen Svoboda (bass) and Chloe Kim (percussion). The music channels their experiences with playground equipment (and other assorted activities), taking inspiration from the likes of monkey bars, raincoats and playground bullies. The compositions explore the collaborative dance of childhood, shifting through moments of silliness and naivety, followed by fear and bewilderment. Playgrounds’ self-titled debut album will be released on Sydney label People Sound in June 2023.
